Crazy Eye

After massive amounts of vomiting, here is what greeted my students today:
Can ya see it?  Broken blood vessel courtesy of the "massive amounts of vomiting."

It could have been worse.  They could have been greeted with this face:
I have major eye problems.  Seriously.

And major "weird face" problems.  Story of my life.

PS:  who knew "vomiting" only has one "t"?  Not this English teacher.

Babes

Daniel and I hung out with two sweeties Thursday night.  And seriously, does life get any better than that?  I mean, just look at them....

Sad Day

Yesterday was a sad day in podium-world.
If only I carried a tube of wood glue in my purse.  Then all would be right with the world...

Holly-days

Every part of me is so sad we still have no snow.  Including my fingernails and the inside of my left ear.  Every part.  Sigh.

So I will relive the days that were...a few weeks ago...when I was still like a child (and/or adult) anticipating receiving the "snow day!" phone call via the calling tree.

Yes, I will relive the festivities that were Christmas.  (Didn't make the connection between longing for snow days and Christmas?  No matter.  Just go with me.)

Christmas with the hubs.  At the new (to us) house.

Hubs guessed every gift before opening, and he was right EVERY TIME.  And he hadn't asked for ANY OF HIS GIFTS.  I died.
I didn't guess...because I'm awful at all things guessing (except for the night we got engaged...), and I wound up way surprised.  10 points for hubs.
Ugg slippers!  I've already logged close to 700 hours in them (for anyone who's counting...dad...I've owned them for 30 days and 24 x 30 is 720...so yes, it is possible).
This was my view after our Christmas dinner (no pictures of that...I'm terrible at taking pictures of food).  What a hubs!

Then I made him play Yahtzee.  I think I won, but I don't remember.  So let's just pretend I won.
Then I made him take an awkward "we're posed like we're just relaxing but Heidi has a HUGE smile on her face" picture.  At least my tree looks pretty.  And at least my walls are no longer boring colors.
Then we headed to A-town for some Glanzer fun.
And fun it was.  I always laugh at how these two are "siblings" now.  Ha.
Traditional Glanzer Christmas Eve.  Complete with fondu and all the condiments you could ever dream of.
 Three of the kids.
And this was just too hilarious not to post.
 My fam bam.
 Traditional "favorite Christmas gift" picture.
Then we headed to the Carlson clan Christmas.  Complete with an ugly Christmas sweater contest.  HILARIOUS.
After taking probably 25 pictures of these yahoos, this was the best one. So darling.  Love them all.  Yes.  Six boys.  I keep telling Daniel that we'll have all girls.  Ha.
The last Christmas celebration was with these two besties.  We missed the other two, but had a delightful time.
It was a good one, this Christmas.  Thanks for reliving it with me.

Back to anticipating the joy that comes with the "snow day!" phone call.  Just one, that's all I want.

Loves.

Progress...

Here is where we're at, folks:

PS: excuse the poor lighting (picture taken with my space phone) and the blue painter's tape (not finished...)

PPS:  check back next week for some kind of fancy shmancy reveal or something like that

:)

PPSS:  we LOVE the bright, cheery blue and white combo

PPSSS:  hubs is way more detail-oriented than I thought

PPPSSS:  loving me some hubs for starting this ginormous proj

PPPSSSS: that is all.  For now.

like a tortoise...

This "make the house our home" process is slow and steady...like a tortoise.  But super fun.

Here's where we are:

This pretty lady gave up a day of her holiday season to cut in for 4 1/2 hours.  What a trooper, huh!?
And this seasoned painter also gave up a day to cut in for 4 1/2 hours. Yes, they both did the tedious work.  I sat around, ate bon-bons, and occasionally used a roller.
This painting bucket was a savior.  It has a magnet to hold the brush.  How cool is that!?
This ladder was a lovely helper as well.
 As was this baby roller.
And this, friends, is our "lacking furniture" room.  But look at our lovely blinds!  From selectblinds.com

I spent part of Friday afternoon organizing our kitchen desk.  Now it's actually usable!  And that white chair?  I scored 4 of them in Abilene over the weekend. Saweet!
The organization was definitely aided by my hanging folders.
This is where we're at in the dining room.  Lotso glass...real child friendly...
 And my blog namesake.
Not sure why this picture is so odd, but the point is that I now have laundry on the main floor!  Hopefully hubs will build me some shelves this week...
Like I said, like a tortoise...slow and steady...

Picture Perfect Painter's Palette

So here's a lay-out of our main floor (made professionally using Microsoft Word...yes, I gotz skillz).
The only room that is currently the final color is the kitchen/living room - the light tealish color.  It's bright and pretty and festive and soothing and lovely.  Many thanks to moms and SIL Tammy for their incredible cutting-in skillz.  Hubs is eager to paint the woodwork, so here's to hoping for a snow day in the near future.  Cheers!

Baaaaack

I'm baaaaaaack.  After a needed break from about 5 dozen things, I resumed them all today.  Including chatting with you.

This was my view yesterday for a nano-second of the morning.  Our apartment is completely cleared out, and we now reside entirely in one space.  And it is good.

I gots me lots of pitchers to show you sometime. What do you want to see?  Christmas? House? Any particular room? My hubs?

Holler, friends, holler, and I will provide.
